  1. Robin Russo says:

My academic record and social influences give me the most stress in life. I feel like I have to get all A’s on everything in order to become successful. Sometimes the pressure I put on myself really can take a toll. I feel disappointed if I get a poor grade, but I’ll still try to keep up the hard work. Also, I feel a lot of pressure from other people. Sometimes people tell me that working so hard “isn’t really worth it.” I want to hang out with my friends sometimes, but hard work will help me do well in college. The subject history probably gives me the most stress. Taking all those notes and doing so much reading can be really daunting sometimes. Plus, it’s not very interesting to me. Therefore, the class gives me a lot of stress. Hopefully I can make it through.

    • Phillipa Wilson says:

I am currently on the path of raising my GPA after making some bad decisions in my past. It is hard, but the reward feels so great; just knowing each class passed is one step closer to your ultimate goal. History is also my worst subject.

  2. Christina Derito says:

I would have to say the most stressful areas in my life are my family and friends. I am always worried about trying to please everyone. Since I have been in school this has changed. I am more focused on my studies than my social life. My home life is affected as well because I am not always available. This is difficult because my friends and family are very important to me and they can be my strength and weakness. They can be my encouragement and my stress.

As far as courses, my most difficult subjects are math and history. I have a hard time staying interested in math; I lose focus and confidence, and then lose motivation. In history, I learn by being involved and relating experiences. As I have got older, history is easier to understand than it was before. I can learn and form an opinion easier but I still need some sort of visual stimulation.

  3. Tabatha says:

The areas in my life that cause me most stress is juggling work and school and having the time to study hang out with friends and family.
The subjects that I have taken that was the most stressful for me was Anatomy & Physiology. I am enrolled to take Microbiology in the fall and I am sure it will present me with stress also.

    • Navin Ramkishun says:

I agree, juggling work and school is extremely tough. What’s even more tough is trying to manage a social life outside of work and school! Science is another tough subject; I had a lot of trouble with Anatomy & Physiology as well, but Microbiology is much easier to learn.

    • CrystalSantos says:

      Tabatha,
I feel your pain!!! Add a two year old and its all chaos from there!

  4. Torey Sheehy says:

    a. What areas in life present the most stress for you? Working and going to school full-time and Living with my girlfriend

    b. Which subjects present the most stress for you and why? Science is my weakest subject because it is something that I am not interested in

    • Christy Derito says:

You definelty have a full schedule if you are working, going to school time and juggling a serious relationship. Good luck! It is not easy going to school full time alone.

    • Hannah Williams says:

      a. I can see why living with your girlfriend may be difficult, and school full-time is also a very stressful thing for you because you have a lot of different things to balance.

      b. Science was hard for me too, especially Chemistry my sophomore year in high school.

    • Aimee Merchant says:

I can relate that going to school and work full-time presents a lot of stress. It’s hard to find time for things when most of your time is taken up by work and going to classes.

    • Jessica Potts says:

#1 I hate working and going to school. Its exhausting!
#2 I LOVE science, but is isn’t for everyone.

  5. Christy Derito says:

My family and friends are my biggest strength and weakness in school. Trying to keep strong friendships, and relationships with family, are difficult when in school. I find myself torn between the two. Especially, because I have a young toddler and husband that miss me when I am busy. I believe trying to balance school, and finding time for the people I care about are my biggest stresses.

I would say that my most difficult subjects that cause me stress are math and history. History is something that I have to physically or visually experience for me to stay interested. I have to put more effort into these classes so that I do not slack. Staying focused in math is hard for me because I am not interested in this subject much. Taking extra time to study can be stressful too.

  6. Hannah Williams says:

#1What areas in life present the most stress for you?
Going into my senior year, and working as a lifeguard 60+ hours a week, applying for college, and completing scholarship essays.

#2Which subjects present the most stress for you and why?
History because I do not find pleasure in learning about it.

    • Torey Sheehy says:

#1 Working and going to school can always be stressful
#2 History is one my favorite because I love learning things I never knew

    • Aimee Merchant says:

I like History, because I find it very interesting. I like learning about what happened in the past to make us who we are today as a person and as a nation. I can see where you are coming from though. When I was in high school, I also hated history. It’s been over 10 years since I’ve been in high school, and now I love it. Try not to think of it as just remembering dates, names, and places (if you do…I know I used to).

  7. Navin Ramkishun says:

1)What areas in life present the most stress for you?
Working almost 50 hours a week, driving around in a 21 year old car that constantly needs attention, and managing school along with my social life.

2)Which subjects present the most stress for you and why?
Math is the most stressful subject for me, because of the amount of time and dedication it takes to get through a small amount of problems. It’s required for my major, and that’s the main reason I am taking this class, to stay motivated!

    • CrystalSantos says:

      Navin,
I WISH I had a social life!!!! And Im sorry about your car!

And Math is no fun for me. I prefer humanities or anatomy. I work for a neurologist so Its what I do and see every day…. lots of interesting cases come thru our doors.

      • Nelson Giraldo says:

I know how you feel about math, I’m currently taking an algebra class online for the summer time, and it is a lot of work. Somethimes I feel like I’m not going to be able to meet all of the deadlines, especially if you have a family and a full time job.

  8. Donald Roeder III says:

#1.What areas in life present the most stress for you. Right now school is the biggest thing going on in my life currently in my second semester at HCC.

#2.Which subjects present the most stress for you and why? Math definitely! I’m taking intermediate algebra at the moment and its quite a bit of work plus algebra has never been one of my strongest subjects.

  9. Hannah Williams says:

How can I comment on two peoples comments if only me and Torey have posted things and I need to go to bed? I tried to respond to mine and his to make it 2,but I’m sorry if that doesn’t qualify but it is all that I can do.

  10. Aimee Merchant says:

    1) What areas in life present the most stress for you?
I am mostly stressed from working full-time and going to school full-time. After working all day, sometimes 11 to 12 hours, I have to go straight to class or come home and study.

    2) Which subjects present the most stress for you and why?
I don’t have a particular subject that presents a lot of stress for me. I do, however, start to stress in subjects that have a lot of long papers and/or research papers. I have a hard time writing, especially trying to come up with topics of my own.

    • CrystalSantos says:

      Aimee,
We are in the same boat my friend. In my case I have to not only work full-time and study but I have a two year old that requires some attention as well. But that’s the beauty of the goals we seek. It’s not worth it if it were just handed to you.

And I hate writing papers too. I get the shakes and everything. When you find a cure or a “magic paper pill” call me. I would love to figure out a way to ease up the anxiety when it comes to papers.

  11. Jessica Potts says:

#1 School and work present the most stress
#2 History because I’m not good at remembering that many dates and events

  12. CrystalSantos says:

1.) The area that presents the most stress for me are, like most others, finances. I used to be able to provide for my family but now it seems to be getting more and more difficult to not live paycheck to paycheck. It has been especially hard these past few months because I have had to pay for my classes and books completely out-of-pocket this semester. It may be the same for next. And with my hours being cut at work I have come to the conclusion that I either find a way to feed my child and keep a roof over his head OR I give up. It has gotten hard. My motivation is there for my education but the means may be dwindling. It’s very difficult.

2.) The subject that presents with the most stress for me is, hands down, English Composition. I really really REALLY dislike writing papers. When it’s opinion based, it seems to be a little easier. But when it comes time to do research papers, it’s like my mind freezes up. I don’t know what to do or think. Very stressful for me.

  13. Marlon says:

the stress in my life is not having a steady 40 hours of work and not having a car. It truly limits the possibilities in life. I think the main area in life that stresses me is my living situation, because I truly don’t want any roommates.

    • Marcus Goff says:

Not having a car can be very stressful. It’s a time where you find out who’s behind you or not. In the long run it really motivate you because when you do get a car you will always have that thought I was making it without a car so I can do more.

  14. Phillipa Wilson says:

    1. The areas in my life that present the most stress for me is the financial aspect of school. I have been working hard to recieve the financial aid that has been granted to me for over a year now. Other that bringing my GPA back up, schools have put me in situations beyond my control and now I have to wait another semester and pay out of pocket before I can recieve my financial aid.
    2. The subject that presents the most stress for me is History because it is so subjective. The amount of information and the level of detail that is required to learn in a semester is overwhelming.

  15. Marcus Goff says:

The areas in life that presents the most stress for me is academics and employment, These two thing take up most of my time I have during a day because my status for both is full time. With my academics I have to dedicate most of my time going to class, assignments, and preparing for exams. Working a full time job at the Manatee County Tax Collectors Office is like taking on two extra courses for school. There I have to remember government policies and attend several classes and training throughout the week. WIth both academics and employment I have to make sure I retain all of the informations that I recieve so I don’t fall behind.
Subjects that present the most stress for me is math and science. I seem to obtain good grades in these course, but I stay focused on studying and trying to maintain those good grades. Math and science course takes a lot of time away from me to prepare for other courses which leads to more stress.

  16. Nelson Giraldo says:

    1. I think the fact of being out of school for so long was pretty stressfull, not to mention that I went to a technical school back in 2005 and the level of education does not even compare with HCC, so I had to make a lot of changes.

  17. Nelson Giraldo says:

    2. The subject that present the most stress to me is english. I’m from South America, so I have to work twice as hard when it comes to grammar. It can be challenging at times, specially when I have to write long essays, but I see it as a great opportunity for me to better myself.

  18. Admin says:

You should also integrate the answer to these questions into your answer:

    - What areas in life present the most stress for you?
    - Which subjects present the most stress for you and why?

    Thanks
